2024 Decorator Showcase

SAN FRANCISCO

Lexie Saine Design and SCIC Italia San Francisco collaborated for the 2024 45th Annual San Francisco Designer Showcase. We were honored to be selected as one of the 28 designers to participate in this prestigious event, aimed at raising financial aid for San Francisco University High School. Designing this space was truly exhilarating, with challenges such as time constraints, space limitations, and specific showcase requirements regarding flow. These factors pushed us to be innovative and creative, resulting in a room that is both impactful and meaningful.

This event provided a unique opportunity to unleash our creativity without the usual limitations of client apprehension. The concept for "Her Closet" was to create a space that was more than just a wardrobe—it was envisioned as a serene haven where tranquility meets design. We wanted the room to immerse the viewer in a monochromatic color palette, demonstrating that a small space doesn’t need to be white and bright to feel spacious. By enveloping the room in the same color but using different textures on the trim, walls, ceiling, vanity, and closet, we aimed to evoke a sense of warmth, sophistication, beauty, and seduction.

In this space, she could be herself and disconnect from the outside world. She could unwind after a long day with a glass of wine or champagne or start her day on a positive note. The closet was designed to showcase the treasures she has collected over the years—items that hold personal significance. It wasn’t about displaying things for others but about creating a personal sanctuary.

Every element was meticulously chosen to create an immersive experience. The luxurious Alcantara Ultrasuede in Sunburn from Italy envelops the space in warmth, while the rich Tecno Surface Walnut cabinets, adorned with bronzed glass from Parma, add depth and sophistication. The fluted Umber of Dekton Ukiyo introduces a serene elegance, perfectly complemented by the enchanting, multidimensional artwork by Kate Tova. Kate designed her piece solely for our space, incorporating items from her own wardrobe, including five dresses, bras, tights, sunglasses, earrings, and more. Carefully placed LED lights illuminate each compartment, transforming garment selection from a mundane task into a tranquil, effortless ritual.  We transformed her closet from an afterthought into a centerpiece of her overall home design.
